“Beaudry uses hand engraving, mill graining and beadwork to create vintage pieces that stand out.”
People of Style — Michael Beaudry
When it comes time to finding the perfect engagement ring, there’s only one name on lovers’ lips: Michael Beaudry.
Known throughout time as the ultimate profession of love, the epitome of elegance, and a woman’s very best friend, there is nothing quite like a diamond. But make no mistake: A Beaudry diamond isn’t just any other diamond. “People who wear Beaudry are true connoisseurs,” says Beaudry, the creative designer behind the self-titled, distinguished brand. “They can do anything and go anywhere, but most importantly, they want what know one else has. They are collectors of fine art and value original, handcrafted works over replications.”
Beaudry uses hand engraving, mill graining and beadwork to create vintage pieces that stand out in a market laden with simple, uninspired solitaires. With flawless gems set in intricate patterns, each future heirloom is reminiscent of old-world beauties like Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn.
The designer credits his appreciation of history and architecture as the source of inspiration for his designs. By pairing this love with the beauty that surrounds him every day, Beaudry is able to create a finished look of old and new, which the Los Angeles- based company has coined as “new vintage.”
Contributing to the line’s dramatic edge is that the jewellery is never mass-produced, and always designed by Beaudry himself, giving it a customized quality. “Once I am inspired by a stone, I hand sketch its destiny and turn it over to my craftsmen,” he says. “I design for the woman who wants something as special and unique as she is.”
A favourite of the stars, Beaudry’s jewels are no strangers to the red carpet. But there is one starlet in particular who seems to get it just right. “Charlize Theron always looks amazing in diamonds,” says Beaudry. “She epitomizes Hollywood glamour.”
That’s quite the compliment, coming from a man who defines style as an expression of oneself. “It’s not really about the clothing or jewellery that you wear, but how you carry yourself in said clothes and jewels.” Beaudry’s own style is an extension of his designs – vintage-inspired. “I’d say my style is classic with a rock ’n’ roll twist,” he shares.
For Beaudry, the sweet life is simple to achieve. “Just do what you love,” he says. “For me, it’s designing and spending time with my wife and children.”
