Bell Celebrity Gala

This year’s Bell Celebrity Gala, held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, raised over $1 million for The Hospital for Sick Children’s SickKids Foundation. More than 1,800 guests and 100 celebrities attended, including Tie Domi, Bobby Orr, Donovan Bailey, Damon Allen, and Trish Stratus. American Idol’s Katherine McPhee gave one of the many exciting live musical performances throughout the evening.

The star-studded event included such notables as Wendy Crewson and Gordon Pinsent. Acclaimed director Norman Jewison handed out the evening’s top prize to Sarah Polley, for her direction of the highly praised feature film Away From Her.

Astral Media Hosts Opening Night of the Toronto International Film Festival

Astral Media hosted its annual opening night celebration of the Toronto International Film Festival. Two hundred and fifty guests enjoyed a cocktail party at Roy Thomson Hall preceding the gala screening of Fugitive Pieces, the opening night film. Among the attendees were the film’s cast and creative team, along with the consul general of Greece, Toronto mayor David Miller and producer Atom Egoyan.

Toronto’s C-Lounge played host to the international launch of James McCreath’s new novel, Renaldo. The event drew an elite crowd of more than 250 guests, including HGTV’s Designer Guys, the Argos’ Tony Miles and Kenny Wheaton, and the Honourable Dr. Marie Bountrogianni. Guests were entertained by flamenco guitar sensation Rizgar, while a freestyle soccer demonstration also moved through the crowd.
